Suren Perera is a product of St.Peter’s College, Colombo 04. He is a professional Human Resource development specialist counting over twelve years’ experience in training elite organizations in the retail industry. Suren is the Manager Human Resources Development in John Keells Group Retail sector. First time in Sri Lanka he was able to launch a retail training institute named Keells Retail Academy at JKH by developing retail training curriculums, training modules, assessment materials and developing 45 In-house trainers to deliver the retail courses within JKH. He has trained over 8,000 retail staff during his career and he has developed a set of effective retail Managers at Keells.

Suren holds a Degree in Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Colombo and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing, specialized in retail marketing from Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing. He also holds an Advance Diploma in Retailing, City & Guilds UK and he has successfully completed the International Diploma in Train the Trainer City & Guilds UK. He has completed his MBA from University of Wales via Cardiff Metropolitan University.

He was also involved in developing the Supermarket National Competency standard with National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority to uplift the modern trade training standards in Sri Lanka. He was also an External Verifier for the City & Guilds for retail programme offered by different educational institutes. He is also a part time Lecturer at Dynamix Business School, Colombo 05. He has taught for students from leading organizations such as Dialog GSM, Hameedia, No Limit, ODEL, Ferrero Lanka, IOC etc...

Suren is a powerful communicator whose engaging and motivational style can reach even the most difficult audience and secure commitment to required outcomes. Effective programme design is one of the keys to successful training. Suren is very successful at achieving sustainable results in retail management, retail marketing and leadership skills development. He believes that personal development is a significant contributor to individual productivity and success, and has achieved excellent results in the field.
